Our first work day was a great success. We split up into a few crews to tackle multiple tasks. A small group helped in the reconstruction of an elderly couple’s roof, while others worked with local contractors to build a rain cover for one of the village garbage huts. Another group started the painting of an elderly woman’s house in the community.

All work having gone well, we took to a nearby beach. A new friend, Brad, who is a young teen who lives nearby, showed us the shortcut to a beautiful black sand beach that we had all to ourselves. After a nice swim, we played frisbee and cards with other local children at the resource center.

With a wonderful start to the week under our belts, we are looking forward to getting more work done and making more friends in the community!
