Hello From Dominica!

Greetings, fellow travelers!

I arrived on the island on Sunday and immediately understood why this country is considered a nature paradise. There are beautiful beaches, rivers, and ocean views from every hilltop. The community of Bense has greeted me warmly and openly. When I walk up and down the street, everyone says, “Hello” and “Good afternoon”, as is the custom. I’ve settled in with my host mom, who has spoiled me with fried plantains and cane sugar treats.

The village council and I have been very busy preparing for your arrival. We’ve lined up some service projects and stocked the cupboards with food for the coming week. We are all so excited to have you!

When you pack, remember to bring essentials with you in your carry on (toothbrush, contacts, medications, change of underwear), so that in case any baggage gets delayed you still have the necessities.

That’s it for now! I look forward to meeting you all soon.
