Work and Batibou Beach

This post features student writing.

Hello!

Today was our first day working on our main project of building a hurricane shelter. We cleared the trash from the foundation of the Bense Resource Center and laid metal bars over the foundation parallel to one of the walls. Tomorrow, we will secure the bars with wire before laying down more metal bars perpendicular to the ones we laid today. We also did some painting of a preschool with simple pictures and words. In the afternoon, we went to the beach, swam, and played games like Marco Polo. After we came out of the water, we ate some sugar cane and coconut. Even though today was great, it is only the true beginning of a great Dominican experience.

Take care!
